About Rose Alley
The "Ale House" is one of the new bars in New Bedford located downtown right next door to Cork at the bottom of Rose Alley facing route 18. It features 20 draft beer lines upstairs and 18 more draft beer lines in the basement, most of which will be local micro brews and Belgian beers as well as a few of the all time favorites. The Ale House also features at least 12 different flavors of buffalo wings as well as several different types of salads, fish, burgers, etc. Several nights per week there is also live entertainment.
An article from the New Bedfords Mayors office reported:
"Since it opened on March 5th, the Rose Alley Ale House has been a popular destination for locals and travelers seeking the hard to find specialty beers they carry. “We’ve found that people are driving 40 minutes to enjoy the pub,” said Howie Mallowes, a spokesman for the group. “With 28 kinds of beer on draft and a menu of specialty food, we have found a destination niche in New Bedford’s downtown and waterfront district.”
Mallowes is joined in the business partnership by co-owners and New Bedford area natives John Mello, Jay Lanagan, Patrick Long, and Al Peters. The young entrepreneurs see the ale house as one day being an anchor along the boulevard that will replace Route 18 and link downtown directly to the waterfront."
